Indefinite Pronouns

1. ¿Qué son los pronombres indefinidos?

Los pronombres indefinidos se usan para hablar de personas, cosas, lugares o cantidades de forma general, sin decir exactamente quién, qué o cuántos.

👉 En español serían palabras como: alguien, nadie, algo, nada, todo, algunos, muchos…

En inglés, los usamos constantemente, tanto en frases afirmativas como negativas y preguntas.

2. Tipos principales de pronombres indefinidos

Vamos a organizarlos por categorías, para que sea más fácil entenderlos y memorizarlos.

3. Pronombres indefinidos de PERSONAS

Lista principal

👉 Someone y somebody significan lo mismo.
👉 Anyone y anybody también significan lo mismo.
👉 Lo mismo ocurre con everyone / everybody.

Uso básico

✔️ Frases afirmativas

• Someone is calling you.
  (Alguien te está llamando)
• Everybody likes chocolate.
  (A todo el mundo le gusta el chocolate)

❓ Preguntas

• Is anyone at home?
  (¿Hay alguien en casa?)
• Did anybody see my keys?
  (¿Alguien vio mis llaves?)

❌ Negativas

• Nobody knows the answer.
  (Nadie sabe la respuesta)
• No one was there.
  (No había nadie allí)

⚠️ Importante:
En inglés no se usa doble negación.
❌ I didn’t see nobody → incorrecto
✔️ I didn’t see anybody
✔️ I saw nobody

❌ Negativas

• I know nothing about it.
  (No sé nada de eso)
• She didn’t say anything.
  (Ella no dijo nada)

5. Pronombres indefinidos de LUGARES

• Let’s go somewhere nice.
  (Vamos a algún sitio bonito)
• I can’t find my phone anywhere.
  (No puedo encontrar mi móvil en ningún sitio)
• Children are everywhere!
  (¡Los niños están por todas partes!)

6. Reglas importantes que debes recordar

📌 Regla 1: Son SINGULARES

Aunque parezcan plurales, todos estos pronombres son gramaticalmente singulares.

✔️ Everyone is happy.
❌ Everyone are happy

✔️ Nobody knows the truth.

📌 Regla 2: Uso con adjetivos

Cuando usamos un adjetivo, este va después del pronombre (no antes).

❌ something interesting → ✔️ correcto
❌ interesting something → incorrecto

Ejemplos:

• I need something important.
• There is nothing wrong.
• Someone special is waiting for you.

7. Pronombres indefinidos de CANTIDAD

Estos se usan mucho y a veces causan confusión.

Principales

Ejemplos:

• Many people are tired.
• I have little time.
• A few students passed the exam.
• None of them answered.

8. Errores comunes (¡muy importantes!)

❌ I didn’t see nobody
✔️ I didn’t see anybody
